SAS Raffle Tickets

We've just taken delivery of a whole bunch of raffle tickets for the Surfers Against Sewage 20th Anniversary Raffle. Tickets are £1 each, with 20 excellent prizes to be won including £2ooo worth of Gul gear as top prize! A tipi holiday, a signed limited edition print of Jack Johns by Mickey Smith and a 3-day hire of a 1970's VW campervan are all also in the prize chest. The staff have already bought their tickets. All the proceeds goes towards protecting our waves, oceans and beaches from an abundance of horrid stuff and, of course, poo. So drop by and get yer ticket now! When you do, be sure to peruse our copy of 'The WAR Report' - SAS's scientific analysis of waves and their benefit to our environment, and why we should be exceedingly careful when talking about harvesting energy from them and altering our landscape against their natural process. Fascinating stuff, and it's kept us debating all through this particularly Autumnal day.

The Gul Night Surf Contest

Surfing at night, generally, is for drunk teenagers, special forces or die hard 'Point Break' enthusiasts. By and large it is not a safe pursuit, just like juggling with hungry ferrets or playing kiss-chase with lorries isn't.

That said, there is an exception to the rule. And if you're twiddling your thumbs on the weekend of the 18th-20th of June, you could go and watch a bunch of people who know exactly what they're doing surf (very well) in the early Summer darkness at The Gul Night Surf contest at Fistral Beach in Newquay.
Music, fireworks, massive lights and beaming smiles.
And no rain, as it's banned.
