StringerBessant

No doubt we've mentioned StringerBessant before. We've certainly mentioned Reef in our blogs, the hit band from which Jack and Gary (above) originally heralded.
I've seen them play as Stringerbessant many times now and it's always a mellow, feel-good affair. Very intimate and friendly too. Myself and a number of friends on the Gul payroll are heading to the Koola Bar in Newquay tomorrow night to watch them play. Looking forward to it. Be great if you can join us. Mine's a Guinness. C

Wednesday Guest Blog # 3

I think I've forgotten Guest Blog for 2 Wedenesdays in a row now. So could you possibly do me two favours? Firstly, forgive me for overlooking last Wednesdays Guest Blog. Secondly, please ignore the fact it's now Thursday.
There.
Perfect.
Todays Guest Blog is quite apt as the band are set to play Newquay this Friday (The Koola Bar - Tickets £6 each) and their debut album was released last Monday. The blog is not updated quite so often as their Twitter is but still worth keeping a peeper on. And the album is a Summer treat.

Reef

This was a band that I really dug in my formative years as a junior rocker. Tunes like 'Naked', 'Mellow', 'Choose To Live' - they were Summer anthems for us. And not just one Summer.

Long years, a really big affro and several dodgy tattoos later, I was stoked to hear they were getting back together for a reunion tour. Saw them play at Shepherds Bush Empire on Friday night, and they were as good as I always remember them, as was the crowd - one slightly merry guy was walking around trying to Hi-5 the entire audience. No mean feat, but it says all you need to know about the feel good factor that runs through Reef and their followers.

Much respect, always.
