Fall

The leaves are goldening, sometimes released from the boughs with a cool gust from the North. Hot chocolate seems like the right thing to do, most of the time, and one Maple & Pecan slice isn't enough.
Pumpkins are fattening. Cider is sweet. The sea changes moods.
Autumn. It's upon us like a...like a... like a colder version of Summer? (Tom's words. Idiot.)
Ah man, I'm rubbish with similes today. Here, this better explains it...

"With the coming of autumn, the days grow shorter and the nights longer and the temperatures move from warm to cool. The colors of orange and red represent the changing, brilliant colors of autumn foilage. If summer is the period of youth in one's life, then autumn is the adult period. As Northrop Frye notes, autumn is associated with mortality and melancholy. A retreat is started from the wild wanderings in open natural space to inside, enclosed man-made spaces."
'Symbolism of Place', symbolism.org website

Basically, what they're saying in a slightly round-about way is, come to Gul Bude. We'll keep you warm through the colder days with our high-quality wetsuits, soul-snuggling clothing and Toms inane wit. C

Harvested Interests

The start of Autumn. It signifies different things to different people.
The end of Summer? It's sad, but the benefits should outweigh any passing melancholy.
Swells? Yeah, we already covered that.
Angry wasps? We could do without them. Makes it very difficult to enjoy my jam sandwich when they're having a moody day.
Significantly less days until Christmas? Yeah, I'm excited too.
To me though, if I'm honest, it's all about the blackberries. To be able to wander off the coast path and gorge myself until I'm sick in the hedge? Pure heaven.
I personally prefer the slightly red ones. Tart, yes, but I prefer the crunch of unripe wild fruit to the crunch of a tubby maggot.
But that's just me. Each to their own.

Start of the Grinders

It came...
In the night, whispering through the skylight,
a gentle growl from the West.
Early doors, coffee poured,
I coast to the Sea, to see.
Lines to the confines of my periphery.
Paddled out.
Busted through to the back,
rode walls, stood tall...
(...and then promptly took 3 big ones on the head, made an odd whimpering sound like a little girl falling off her first bike into gravel, got out, took a deep breath and used work as an excuse to my friends as to why I had to get out and besides, the old knee was playing up again. It often does in Autumn.)

Check out the new range! Yeahh!

MMMMmmmmmm....... check. It's like a warm bath in honey.
The start of the Autumn/Winter range is finally released for public consumption... Yes, it does feel odd using the 'W' word this early on, in the middle of August no less. However, don't be deceived - to keep you cool on those steamy indian Summer days that will no doubt roll along soon, we have plenty of tees, vests and beautiful, beautiful checked shirts in this range, as sported by Tom above. We couldn't work out why he'd been in the changing room for so long. But we should have guessed. Check.
All you need do is come have a peruse. And a natter with us here. We love company, see. And don't forget to keep in mind that we still have a bumper Summer sale on - 50% Off many lines (and even more off a few others!)
